人が「心地よい」と感じる光とは、何だろうか。

そよ風に揺れる木々から漏れる、キラキラとした光。障子や格子戸を透かして浮かぶ、柔らかな光。焚き火や暖炉に揺らめく、心落ち着く暖かな光——。

ただ静かに冷たく照らす光よりも、穏やかな動きに気配さえも感じさせて、ずっと眺めていたくなるような光がある。

そんな光を、つくってみたい。

要素は、できる限りシンプルに。振る舞いはごく自然に、飽きがこないものを。

「10¹² TERRA」とともに模索したのは、白く幾何学的なフォルムの外側のシェードと、内側のシェードの回転が織りなす、光の陰影。

動きの源は、白熱球の熱による対流のみ。動力をあえて用いず、あくまでも自然に、美しくゆるやかな光の動きを追求した。

 

「LUX（ルクス）」——

試みたのは、照明と呼ばれる器具ではなく、“光の振る舞い”そのものをデザインすること。

流れゆく陰影で空間をほのかに演出する、美しくコンセプチュアルな灯りが、ここに。

What is a light that makes people feel comfortable? The twinkling light that leaks through trees waving with a light breeze. The soft light that floats through lattice or paper sliding doors. The warm and calming light that waves in the bonfire or in the fireplace. 

 

Rather than just a cold and bleak lighting, there is a kind of light that makes you want to stare at it endlessly, making you feel the presence of a calm motion. We wanted to try and recreate that light. 

 

In a word, making it as simple as possible. A light whose movement would feel natural, and would not feel exhausting. Together with [10¹² TERRA], we aimed to interweave the rotation of both shade from the exterior of a white geometrical shape, and shade from within, presenting a light full of contrasts. Its source of energy is simply the convection resulting from the heat of the incandescent light bulb. Daring not to rely on power transmission, we searched for a light that could be beautiful, soft and natural. 

 

With LUX, we aimed not for a tool that would simply illuminate, but rather a design that would reflect the natural behaviour of light. Here, you will find a beautiful and conceptual lamp that will help you subtly produce an atmosphere using the changing degree of light.
